----------

Welcome to Cheryl’s place!  I’m thrilled to have you here.  Thank you for inviting me to be your guest today.  I’m delighted to be here.

Multi-published author, Sherry Gloag is a transplanted Scot now living in the beautiful coastal countryside of Norfolk, England.  She considers the surrounding countryside as extension of her own garden, to which she escapes when she needs "thinking time" and solitude to work out the plots for her next novel.  While out walking she enjoys talking to her characters, as long as there are no other walkers close by.

Apart from writing, Sherry enjoys gardening, walking, reading and cheerfully admits her books tend to take over most of the shelf and floor space in her workroom-cum-office.  She also finds crystal craft work therapeutic.

What is your favorite pastime, other than writing?  Reading, gardening, walking, crystal craft work.

Any advice for new writers just starting out? Don’t give up and don’t give in.  Keep your butt in the chair and keep on writing.  Browse the net, follow author web and blog sites and see how they ‘work’, and get your online presence established well in advance of your first publication.

What is a typical writing day for you?  I write when I can.  I prefer to write in a block of time in the evening if I can.  I spend time answering emails doing promo work when I can during the day.

What genre or genres do you write? Mainstream Contemporary Romance with a touch of mystery.  I am presently experimenting with a regency but it keeps getting put back while I focus on my Gasquet Princes series of novellas for Astraea Press.

Do you see yourself trying any another genre in the future and if so which one? Regency romance.

Tell us about your latest release?  His Chosen Bride, released by Astraea Press in time for Valentine’s Day, is the second in my four story Gasquet Princes series.  It is Henri’s story, and how he copes with the knowledge and duties that come with being heir to his father’s throne.  When he meets dreamer and empathy, Monica Lattimer, he has to come to terms with the knowledge that she is just what he is looking for and not the unknown bride, he’s asked his father to find for him.

What makes your hero special?  Prince Henri is special because having spent all his life learning his duties entail serving others, he has the strength of character to realize he can rely on others to help him, too.

What makes your heroine special?  Monica Lattimer is a dreamer and an empathy, who as a child was rejected by her former school friends and still protects herself  from rejection by strangers.

Please share an excerpt of your book!

Excerpt from His Chosen Bride - Release Date Coming Soon

“Monica!”
She knew she’d never heard the voice before, and yet—it was as familiar to her as the image she saw in her mirror each morning.
“Help me, Monica.”
Desperate for more clues, she searched the darkness within the flames until it sputtered and faded. With a curse, she jumped up and ran for the phone. With her outstretched hand hovering over it she halted and let her hand drop to her side once more. What could she say? What would the police or rescue team think if she called them and told them she’d seen a vision of a man in distress?
They’d laugh in her face and classify her as a lunatic. Well, maybe not. It wouldn’t be the first time she’d contacted them with positive information but something—an instinctive gut reaction told her what she’d seen this time hadn’t happened yet.

What book are you reading now?  I am re-reading Nora Roberts Jewels of the Sun.

What inspired you to write your latest story?   Because it is the second in a series of four, I’ll tweak the answer and say that the British royal wedding last year inspired me to write the first story From Now until Forever.  After it was finished Henri demanded his story be told, too.

What’s your current WIP? I am working on the third Gasquet Princes story and making notes for the fourth and final one, too.

Tell us what excites you about writing and getting published.  Oddly enough I found this one hard to answer.  To begin with, writing was a dream.  A dream I never expected to fulfill, and then things changed, my attitude, life, (The alignment of the moon and the stars? LOL)  I’d flirted with writing on and off since the 1990s, It wasn’t until the early 2000s I had the opportunity or the self-belief, and in 2006 and began writing what became my debut novel, The Brat, released by The Wild Rose Press in October 2010.  In 2009 I had a couple of short stories published online, and that was the ‘true’ start.

Do you prefer your men in boxers, briefs or commando?  LOL briefs

And finally, where can we stalk you?
To buy Link: ( don’t have it yet but will send it to you when I do, in the meantime use this, please.  http://www.astraeapress.com/

If your hero and heroine would like to visit as well, please have them answer the following questions.

Tell us about the first time you saw the hero/heroine

Hero:
I saw her on the day of my brother’s wedding and fell in love instantly
Heroine: Prince Henri was Liam’s best man and I saw him when walking down the isle in front of the bride, my best friend Melanie.

What drew you to him/her? They both turned up ‘fully-formed’

Hero: I can’t put it into words, other than to say it was a kind of ‘soul recognition’.
Heroine: When we danced together at the wedding, I ‘knew’ he could destroy my heart, regardless of how much I protected it.

What is your favorite thing about him/her:

Hero: His sense of duty, and yet when he has to choose, he doesn’t allow it to destroy his chance of happiness.
Heroine: She loved him enough to give him up and had the good sense to fight for him anyway.

Care to share future plans?   I am working on the third story in the Gasquet Princes series, and making notes on the fourth and final story.  And continuing the ‘on-off’ relationship with my regency novel, No Job for a Woman.
